Continuum Gaming: Replacing a Smartphone Motherboard

The latest special episode of Continuum Gaming could also be called "How to save a life", because here I show how, after a problem with the partition editing of my smartphone and an empty battery, I exchange the motherboard with another one from a smartphone of the same type where I produced a spider app years ago. As a result, the smartphone now works as before, if not better, because I have combined the best parts of both smartphones and ...

Mask with integrated face shield or how to show mouth expression despite corona and the obligation to protect the mouth/nose...

Masks are a helpful tool to prevent the spreading of viruses such as SARS-CoV 2 and should be worn by as many people as possible within the given regulations. Unfortunately, however, they also prevent the perception of the most important facial expressions of people, so that it is currently much more difficult to simply give a smile. The alternative to this are face shields (FaceShields), which actually only help against spitting / direct drip ...

VRChat: What is VRChat and how did I import my plumper model as a character?

In times of Covid-19 you are very likely looking for new hobby and since I have a VR headset, I looked around a bit and came across VRChat. VRChat is a software which allows you to talk virtually without transmitting a video signal and communicating with a live video stream like in one of the numerous video chat apps but VRChat works more like a multiplayer computer game. You pick a (okay, let’s say it like it is: 16 or more...) character ...

My battle against HDMI to DisplayPort and back... or the day I tried to connect my Wacom Cintiq to my new graphics card

I bought a new graphics card a few weeks ago. (a Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700XT to be exact to achieve better frame rates for VR... which was only as lala as it turned out, but anyway: now I have a much more powerful GPU... doesn’t hurt) Unfortunately, I didn’t take a close look before or thought: adapters are still available and I neglected what kind of connections the graphics card has compared to my "old" graphics card (a Sapphire RX570 Nitro+). ...

Continuum Gaming: Special Episode 210

At the moment it is a bit difficult to print with my new resin based 3d printer, because printing unfortunately consumes a lot of isopropanol. Why is this a problem? Isopropanol is one of the best disinfectants and is used in practically every surface disinfectant and also in many hand disinfectants. Unfortunately, my supply of it is running low (I was very lucky to have a large amount of it at home due to the 3d printing... this makes it ...

Breathing mask from the 3d printer

A company from Baden-Württemberg called "Cast Solut" has developed a respirator that can be produced by injection moulding and that reduces the use of filter material to about 1/5 of a normal respirator. Well done one can only say. Of course things get even better if you can download the 3d data for it and print it out on your home FDM printer. The 3d model is available on the website - thanks for that :). But when I downloaded it, I noticed ...

Does it cost me something to host it? Hell yeah.

I do not see why I should provide it to you to be insulted?
